With my time at the University of North Dakota, I have consistently positive feedback and strong recommendations about the program. I chose the UND Internal Medicine residency program because I am originally from the area and completed my medical schooling there. Rotating with this program demonstrated the value of a moderate-sized residency that offers a truly personalized educational experience. This individualized approach continued throughout my residency and remains a hallmark of the program. I experienced full immersion and received exceptional, personalized mentorship, which has fostered lasting professional collaborations. The program’s flexibility in allowing residents to tailor their schedules and seize these opportunities has been instrumental in achieving successful fellowship placements for myself and my co-residents. Overall, the program effectively prepares residents for the next phase of their careers, whether in clinical practice, hospital-based work, or advanced fellowship training. Additionally, the moderate size of the program fosters close-knit relationships among residents, creating a supportive environment that feels like family, while maintaining a collegiate relationship with faculty. This balanced community atmosphere significantly enhances the training experience. |

I loved my time with the UND residency. I made so many memories with my co-residents along with obtaining a robust internal medicine education. I was continuously pushed to be a better physician and I feel well prepared for a future as a hospitalist/educator through my time with the residency. One of the best things about the UND IM residency is the ability to train residents with small class sizes in a large community health system with university support. This dynamic makes the UND IM residency a great blend of academic and community medicine. |

I'm very happy with my decision to complete residency at UND and live in the Fargo/Moorhead area. The small size of the program allows for your co-residents to become like a second family, and the attendings that we work with become great mentors throughout the years of training. We receive ample learning opportunities in the bread-and-butter cases of internal medicine while getting exposure to rare and interesting pathologies at a large tertiary care center. With the end of my residency training drawing near, I feel very prepared to take the next step as an attending after training at UND. |

I like that the morning and evening commutes are non-existent for traffic jams. I like that there are numerous activities to find around the city of Fargo and Moorhead, Minn. (which is right across the river). |
