Noon Conference Curriculum

We utilize American College of Physicians (ACP) Board Lecture Series, specifically designed content for the Boards by the Boards. See: ACP Board Series content.

• Protected lecture time from Noon-1:00PM.
• Average of two full weeks per month of conference time dedicated to this curriculum.
• Lectures provided by primary residency faculty.
  • Subspecialists are invited to assist with delivery or provide clinical relevance.
• Built-in quiz questions designed to test your knowledge and learn the ways in which ABIM Board questions are created.
• Standardized format for ease of use.
• Lecture questions match the ACP In-Training Exam format.

Johns Hopkins Ambulatory Curriculum

Residents are assigned modules from the Physician Education and Assessment Center (PEAC). The content is geared towards ambulatory management of common disease processes to strengthen clinical competency when working in the outpatient setting. Residents enjoy one week of self-study during their ambulatory rotation for completion of this curriculum.

Academic Half-Day Didactics

This half-day is protected time for our residents to focus on a variety of educational content. Our academic conferences begin with a resident case presentation followed by group discussion and a mix of core content didactics, simulation, and board review. Faculty from our internal medicine department, internal medicine subspecialties, some non-internal medicine specialties, and relevant nonclinical disciplines facilitate our academic conferences. This is typically scheduled once or twice monthly.

Presentations

Journal Club

• Residents work directly with our faculty experts in evidenced based medicine (clinical pharmacist, physician, and clinical librarians) to facilitate a thoughtful analysis of clinical research. These are lively discussions where residents learn to dive deeply into research and determine if and how the results are applicable to patient care.

Patient Safety Conferences (Morbidity and Mortality)

• Case review conferences led by resident and faculty members to discuss patient safety and improve clinical practice for better patient outcomes.

Internal Medicine Grand Rounds

• Department sponsored Grand Rounds focused on a variety of topics by faculty and guest speakers. Offered four to six times per year.
