What I’m Looking Forward to as Chief Resident: I’m looking forward to helping residents achieve their academic and professional goals. I also am looking forward to helping integrate our simulation curriculum further for the residency.

Hobbies: I love spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, and unwinding with a good TV show.

I chose the UND Internal Medicine Program for its commitment to diversity and because Fargo has felt like a second home to me throughout my life. The people of North Dakota have always been the reason I return, and I am grateful for the warmth and kindness I have consistently experienced here.

My passion for medicine was sparked by its foundation in inquiry, diagnostics, and procedures. Since entering the field, I have found that the most rewarding part of this journey has been getting to know patients from all walks of life and learning from the stories they share.

Medical School: University of Damascus

Hobbies: I come from a small caring family. I am a mother, a physician and a wife. I love to experience new food and new places, enjoy cooking, reading and learning new languages.

Medical and Professional Interests: Hematology-Oncology fellowship, but I am open to all possibilities.

I chose the UND IM program because of the friendly environment and the high standards in education. I am passionate about medicine and cannot imagine myself doing another thing. Being helpful and supportive to patients and colleague is my main motivation.

Hobbies: My hobbies include mystery shows, live theater, rock climbing, baking, and going to the lake.

I chose the UND IM program because of the fervor for learning and genuine care for patients exhibited by faculty and residents alike. I am passionate about providing patient care that is practical, proactive, and respects patients as whole people.

Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine 

Hobbies: I love to read (huge science fiction/fantasy nerd!) Skiing in the winter, and basically anything that can get me out on the water in the summer!

Medical and Professional Interests: Hospital Medicine, Critical Care Medicine

I chose the UND IM program as it grants you the ability to work in a large tertiary care center, while living in a community with a smaller town feel. You get the best of both worlds with seeing a wide range of pathologies, while still being able to serve your community with the common "bread and butter" cases you'll see in your career. I know I'll leave this program a well-rounded physician. However, the best part is the people. The senior faculty, residents, and program leadership really make this program what it is. Your work is always appreciated and valued here, and resident wellness is a large focus of the program's overall design!

Medical School: Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine

Hobbies: I really like both board games and video games. My go to book genre is Sci-Fi. I was a member of the Omaha Pipes and Drums prior to medical school.

Medical and Professional Interests: Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology

I chose the UND IM program as family is important to me so I wanted someplace close to home. I was in search of a program that had a heme/onc fellowship and wanted the program to be small enough that I wouldn’t be lost in a sea of residents. At the end of the day I believe UND fulfills what I am looking for.

Medical School: University of North Dakota

Hobbies: Things that I enjoy in my free time include strength training, cooking, video games, watching Vikings football, and following UND hockey.

Medical and Professional Interests: I hope to attend fellowship in Critical Care Medicine as well as work in an educational role with medical students and residents.

I chose the UND IM program because I believe it offers many avenues for professional growth and to stay close to family. My biggest passion in medicine is teaching to both patients and to healthcare colleagues.

Hobbies: I enjoy spending time outdoors with my dogs, golfing, going to the gym, and playing boardgames.

Medical and Professional Interests: Unsure at this time, but I am interested in Cardiology, specifically Interventional Cardiology.

I chose UND because of the strong curriculum, fantastic faculty, and location.

Hobbies: In my free time I enjoy watching movies, playing sports, spending time with friends/family/my dog, and trying to win my fantasy football league.

I chose the internal medicine program at UND because I felt as though it would prepare me well for being an attending or applying to fellowship, along with UND having a very welcoming environment.

I chose the UND program for its strong emphasis on patient-centered care and its commitment to serving both urban and rural populations across the region. The program's mission closely aligns with my passion for preventive medicine and my dedication to improving healthcare access for underserved communities.

Medical School: University of Zürich, Switzerland

Hobbies: I love to read (especially fantasy or high fantasy!), baking (especially pies), and I’ve recently picked up knitting. I also love going on walks and enjoy the occasional salsa lesson.

Medical and Professional Interests: Fellowship in endocrinology or rheumatology but I am open to anything!

I chose the UND program because I was looking for a close-knit, welcoming and supportive team. I believe this program offers a great combination of being in a regional hub with high quality facilities, while having the friendly atmosphere that I have grown to love while living in the Midwest and Switzerland. I see this as an excellent opportunity for me to grow as a physician in order to best care for patients. I am passionate about being able to help and care for my patients while communicating with them effectively.

Hobbies: In my free time I love doing yoga, pilates and punch needling. I have been a badminton player in the past and now play pickleball too!

Medical and Professional Interests: Currently exploring several subspecialties and look forward to having more exposure to them during my intern year!

I chose the Internal Medicine program at UND for its people! When I visited Fargo, I absolutely loved the resident camaraderie, resident driven approach under the leadership of Dr. Raum. I knew I would thrive personally and professionally and be able to achieve my future goals with everyone's support. I am passionate about patient care and would like to take on leadership roles!

I'm an Internal Medicine resident at UND-Sanford, originally from Winnipeg, MB. UND was the perfect choice, allowing me to train in a familiar community while staying close to family and friends. I’m passionate about the continuous learning and challenges that come with medicine, from staying up to date with evolving treatments to developing critical thinking skills in complex cases. Most importantly, I value the opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients, earning their trust and guiding them through every stage of their health journey.

Hobbies: Soccer dad here! I love attending my kids' soccer practice and games with my wife. We also love to travel as a family to new places and visit family. I enjoy jogging with my dog and preparing for road races and half marathons. In my free time, I enjoy woodworking on a lathe making pens.

Hobbies: Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my husband, whether it’s visiting the lake, trying new restaurants, or hiking on our trips to Montana. I also enjoy staying active through walking, Pilates, and group exercise classes for fun. Most of all, I cherish time with my family, especially my sisters, nieces, and nephews, creating special memories and watching them grow.

Medical and Professional Interests: Hospitalist, possibly fellowship in palliative or hematology/oncology

I chose the UND Internal Medicine program because I loved the atmosphere among the residents and attendings. From my very first interactions, Dr. Raum stood out as an amazing program director, and I knew this program would provide excellent training while allowing me to stay close to family and friends for support. I also chose UND because I am committed to practicing in North Dakota and serving the community I call home. I am passionate about learning and all the intricacies of medicine. I love exploring the interface between pathophysiology and the social and emotional aspects of patient care. It is truly an honor to bear witness to my patients' journeys and be a part of their healing process.

Hobbies: I enjoy playing the guitar, restoring and racing old sports cars, playing golf, and spending time outdoors.

Medical and Professional Interests: Hospitalist somewhere close to home in the Midwest

I chose the UND IM program after having a great experience with faculty and residents during an acting internship in medical school. I really enjoyed the camaraderie among residents and the dynamic teaching styles of the instructors, which allowed each resident independence and true responsibility for their patients. My favorite part of medicine is encountering complex and interesting problems that, when solved, can make a huge difference in a patient's life.
