Resident Research and Scholarly Activity

All residents participate in a scholarly project during training.

Scholarly projects range from reviews of clinical topics to clinical or basic science research.

Research Opportunities

  • The Research and Scholarly Activity Committee meets with all interns and is available to discuss projects and connect residents to mentors and projects.
  • We provide a stipend for residents presenting research at regional or national meetings.
  • The program and department provide support with IRB submissions and statistical analysis for any resident research project.
  • We collaborate with experts in our sponsoring institutions to expand opportunities for research in areas that residents have expressed interest.
  • The Internal Medicine Research Symposium offers an exciting opportunity for Internal Medicine and Transitional Year Residents to present research/case reports and gain recognition from peers and internal medicine leaders. Posters and oral presentations focus on the following categories - Clinical Vignette, Research Paper, and Quality Improvement-Patient Safety.
  • Residents also have the opportunity to present research at other events including Frank Low Research Day, American College of Physicians, and Society of Hospital Medicine poster competitions.
