Strategic Plan
The SMHS strategic plan emphasizes the importance of collaboration and partnership to achieve improved quality of life for the people of North Dakota.
The UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS) was founded in 1905 by visionary leaders who understood that if North Dakota wanted a robust supply of health providers, it would have to work hard produce its own. Following the university's UND LEADS plan, which emphasizes Learning, Equity, Affinity, Discovery, and Service, the School's current strategic plan aligns with the foundational goals of the UND LEADS “Today, Tomorrow, and Forever” vision to inspire a sense of wonder, a love of discovery, and a commitment to serve the state and its people.
The plan establishes processes that are inclusive, reflect evidence-based practice,
and support the UND SMHS
commitment to interprofessional education and collaboration. The strategic plan reflects
our unwavering commitment toward a healthier future for all North Dakotans, focusing
on the following pillars:

A culture of curiosity and life-long pursuit of greater knowledge, skills, and abilities by learners at all levels.Equity
