Leading the Way to a Healthier North Dakota

As one of only 35 community-based medical schools in the country that neither own nor operate their own hospital, our school works in close partnership with the six larger and 36 smaller hospitals across the state. We rely on community faculty to teach our students, and all of us are in their debt. Together, working through the state-supported Healthcare Workforce Initiative, we are building the healthcare provider workforce for the state that will improve access to care. Together with our community partners, we hope to deliver even better and more affordable healthcare. And thanks to our researchers, we hope to bring new discoveries from the laboratory bench to the bedside so that the citizens of North Dakota and the region can lead healthier lives.
