Vulnerable Populations

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, vulnerable populations are "defined by socio-economic status, geography, gender, age, disability status, risk status related to sex and gender, and among other populations identified to be at-risk for health disparities."

In North Dakota, vulnerable populations include American Indians and low-income, childbearing women. Below are links to research projects at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the Center for Rural Health.

  • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Center
  • National Indigenous Elder Justice Initiative (NIEJI)
  • National Resource Center on Native American Aging (NRCNAA)
  • Native Aging in Place (NAPP)
  • North Dakota Brain Injury Network (NDBIN)
