Student Awards
The School of Medicine & Health Sciences offers several awards for student publication and dissemination.
Trainee Publication Award
To recognize the critical importance of dissemination of scholarly activity and the accomplishment of peer-reviewed publication, the Office of the Associate Dean of Research in the UND SMHS provides support for trainee (undergraduate students publishing with an SMHS corresponding author PI, SMHS graduate students, SMHS allied health students, non-REMS medical students, SMHS postdoctoral fellows, and SMHS residents) publication fees. Pending funds availability, costs associated with publication fees and open access charges may be partially supported by the Trainee Publication Award up to 50% of publication fees with a maximum of $1,000. To apply for publication support, a trainee must apply after manuscript acceptance.
To qualify for publication support:
1. Trainees must be enrolled at UND or be an SMHS undergraduate or SMHS graduate/medical
student or
2. Currently an SMHS-employed postdoctoral fellow or resident.
3. Trainees must be the first author or corresponding author of the publication.
4. Manuscripts must be indexed in PubMed.
5. Manuscripts must be peer-reviewed.
6. Manuscripts must be accepted for publication.

If you have questions, contact Nikki Voigt in the Office of the Associate Dean of Research in the School of Medicine & Health Sciences at nicole.voigt@UND.edu. Decisions for support will be determined continuously throughout the calendar year.
