Internal Medicine Residency Program
Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
The UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Department of Internal Medicine has a long and proud history of focused commitment to resident education and training. The small size of our program results in an individualized educational structure coupled with a camaraderie unparalleled by larger academic programs.
Program Description
Our Bismarck Internal Medicine Residency Program is a university-sponsored, community-based program affiliated with the University of North Dakota (UND) and based at Sanford Health in Bismarck, N.D. We are dedicated to providing personalized education that nurtures professional growth, fosters a culture of inquiry, and supports resident well-being.
Residents in our program will experience diverse clinical training opportunities in a dynamic learning environment that prioritizes patient safety and high-quality care. Our collaborative interprofessional teams, including residents, faculty, and peers from various residency and fellowship programs, create an ideal setting for teamwork and holistic care.
Our residency program prepares residents for a wide range of careers in internal medicine and its subspecialties. Graduates are well-equipped for independent practice across the full spectrum of internal medicine, including primary care, hospital medicine, and dualist roles.
In addition to a well-rounded clinical curriculum, residents enjoy excellent employee benefits and a supportive, balanced learning environment at UND and Sanford Health, which fosters both personal and professional development.
