Curriculum
Required Clinical Rotations and Other Learning Experiences
The curriculum of the University of North Dakota Transitional Year Residency Program is designed to meet program accreditation standards set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Our program requires that residents complete the following rotations:
- 28 weeks of fundamental clinical skills rotations (four blocks of Internal Medicine teaching service, one block of intensive care unit, one block of ambulatory medicine, one block of Emergency Medicine)
- Two weeks of night medicine
- Two weeks of research and scholarly activity (PBLI)
- Five blocks of electives
Sample Schedule
Our newly built schedule is composed of 13, four-week block rotations. We pride ourselves in offering numerous elective blocks, to allow each resident to tailor their education to their own learning goals and objectives. A sample schedule can be found below:

- Block 6: Critical Care Medicine
- Block 7: Holiday Break/Elective
