The curriculum of the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Pediatric Residency Program is as follows: 

PGY-1 Year

  • 3 months Inpatient Hospitalist
  • 1 month Acute Care
  • 1 month Newborn Nursery
  • 1 month Developmental/Behavioral
  • 1 month Pediatric Infectious Disease
  • 1 month Night Float Hospitalist
  • 2 weeks Pediatric Rheumatology
  • 2 weeks Pediatric Gastroenterology
  • 1 month General Peds
  • 1 month Pediatric Cardiology
  • 2 month Electives

  • 1 month Inpatient Hospitalist
  • 1 month Night Float Hospitalist
  • 1 month PICU
  • 1 month NICU
  • 1 month Pediatric Endocrinology/DM

  • 1 month Adolescent Medicine (U of Minnesota-2 wks; self study-2 wks)
  • 1 month Pediatric Emergency Medicine (Sanford USD Medical Center-Sioux Falls)
  • 5 months Electives

  • 5 months Electives

Psychiatry continuity clinic: This is a longitudinal half-block (second half of Adolescent Medicine) 

Continuity Clinic: A ½ day/week in a local community pediatric practice for at least 36 half-day clinics per year (excluding vacation, night float, and away weeks).

Residents will have the opportunity to observe and participate in a variety of elective rotations including, pediatric surgery, genetics, and child neurology.
