Doctoral Experience Capstone
The Doctoral Experience is comprised of a sequence of courses and on-site experiences that culminate in the creation of a scholarly works that influence occupational therapy practice. Such scholarly works might include building new programming that is designed for a specific agency or site, the complete of a research study, active advocacy writings and presentations to stakeholders, specific practice experiences designed to help the graduate learner build practice area specific skills (such as in pediatrics, hand therapy, etc.), and more.
Learners take a sequence of courses specific to the doctoral experience that begin in Year 2 of the program and end in the final semester of the program with OT 694 Doctoral Experience and OT 995 Scholarly Project or OT 997 Independent Study. It is within OT 694 and OT 995/OT 997 that students demonstrate their mastery of content from the entirety of the UND Occupational Therapy Doctoral curriculum and their ability to both synthesize that content and translate it to practice.
The tangible outcome of the Doctoral Experience that is available to the public is the published scholarly works that are available on the UND Scholarly Commons.
