INMED hosts a series of summer programs for college students, new medical students, and education professionals.
Med Prep
The 2025 application will open in February.
Med Prep is a summer program for American Indian college upperclassmen and graduates who are preparing to take or retake the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and apply to medical school. Instructors lead group and individual tutoring sessions on biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, behavioral science, and critical analysis and reasoning. Students take weekly practice MCAT tests.
Students also participate in admissions workshops, mock interviews, personal statement reviews, and meet with current medical students. Other activities include presentations by medical school personnel, shadowing opportunities, and visits to Indian Health Service facilities.
Students accepted into the program receive stipends for full participation.

CLIMB
CLIMB (Career and Life Instruction for Matriculation Building) is a summer program for incoming INMED medical students.
CLIMB is designed to assist new medical students to acclimate to the rigors and culture of medical school and develop a sense of community prior to the start of classes.
Educational activities and sessions include an introduction to the curriculum, library resources and research skills, financial literacy, study and test-taking skills, personal wellness strategies, biochemistry review, and tours of the medical school and community.

The Native Educator University Research Opportunity in Neuroscience (NEUROscience)
NEURO is a professional development program that places teachers in a Department of Biomedical Sciences research lab at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
In this lab, teachers will gain first-hand experience conducting science research and will work with science educators to translate their research experience into the classroom.
This comprehensive professional development program aims to build on and improve teachers’ understanding of the scientific process and support their science pedagogy in an effort to provide learning environments for American Indian students that foster scientific inquiry and promote the attainment of careers in health care.

- Eight-week professional development program, 2024 dates: June 3- July 26
- Eligible applicants are high school science teachers teaching in Tribal schools
- Research experience in biomedical science lab
- STEM pedagogy training
- Can receive up to two continuing education credits
- A stipend of $15,000
