Admission Requirements

Our program is designed to be a cooperative arrangement between an affiliated histology laboratory, the student, and the UND Histotechnology program.

General overview

Students must have a clinical site before being accepted into the program and will also need to apply and be accepted to the University of North Dakota. Application and acceptance into the program will require commitments and agreements between all three parties; the student, the UND HT program, and the clinical affiliate.

Prerequisites Required

  1. Completion of an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Verification of at least a 2.8 GPA.
  3. Successful completion of the following courses with a C or better:
    1. Introduction to Chemistry - 4 cr.
    2. Concepts of Biology - 4 cr.
    3. College Level Math
  4. Clinical site placement.

Upon successful completion of the prerequisites, the student will apply for entrance into the Histotechnician Certificate Program.

Application Deadlines

The program may be started at the beginning of any of three semesters offered annually at UND which begin in August, January, or May. The deadline for submission of the UND HT program application for each semester is listed below. The program is 19 credits and may be completed over 2 or 3 semesters.

Fall Semester - June 1

Spring semester - Nov. 1

Review and Next Steps

  • Application Review: Applications are reviewed by the UND HT Program Admissions Committee.
  • Admissions Decisions: Following acceptance into the program, students will receive instructions to complete remaining requirements (e.g., criminal background check, immunization records).
  • Course Registration: Student may only register for HT courses once they have been officially admitted to the program.
