Get answers to frequently asked questions about the Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of North Dakota.
Moonlighting is permitted beginning in PGY-3 for eligible residents (subject to approval of the residency program).
Common moonlighting sites include Prairie St. John's, North Dakota State Hospital, and Sanford Bismarck.
Every resident is involved via quarterly resident-director (RDM) meetings where resident feedback is obtained and communicated to program leadership via the chief residents. Starting in PGY-2, residents are invited to join the program evaluation committee, focusing on curricular & policy updates within the residency. Residents also have opportunities to join the Grand Rounds committee, Group Didactics committee, and Social Media/Website committee. Independent resident feedback is welcomed at any time.
Additionally, one resident and an alternate resident are involved each academic year in the UND Graduate Medical Education Committee, which is comprised of residents across the various UND residencies and UND SMHS GME leadership.
The UND School of Medicine offers residents a variety benefits including health insurance coverage (Premium is paid by the School of Medicine & Health Sciences), access to the university’s employee assistance program, long term disability coverage, 21 calendar days (15 weekdays + 6 weekend days) of paid annual vacation time, professional liability coverage, and much more.
In addition to the benefits offered by the school of medicine our program provides an educational stipend for each level of in the program, and travel reimbursement for rural outreach travel (meals, lodging, and mileage).
