Resident Life

Our residents take pride in their work-life balance.

Resident Fun

Our residents have group wellness days several times per year. From kickball to UND Fighting Hawks hockey games, we work hard to play hard.

Resident Collaboration

Orthopedic Surgery residents often work closely with other residency programs at UND and Sanford Health, including Podiatry and General Surgery.

Resident Hands-on Experience

Orthopedic Surgery residents have dedicated time every month in the Sanford BioSkills Lab. Surgical skills are learned and perfected through repetition and residents can practice many ways through hands-on experience, with simulation equipment, or even with virtual reality headsets.

Resident Leadership

Residents have options for leadership roles and involvement both inside and outside of the program to suit their individual interests.

Within the program, residents are selected for the Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Annual Program Evaluation Committee each academic year.

Chief and Senior residents handle the daily interaction with the Junior residents, along with rotating medical students. Residents also present monthly during didactic sessions to further develop their roles as leaders.
