Orthopedic Residency Program
The UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences and Sanford Health Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program was created based on a strong commitment and passion to educating the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Program Description
The five-year comprehensive program will help future orthopedic surgeons from across the country learn from the region’s most talented surgeons in both Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D. The group will spend approximately three years in Fargo, one year in Sioux Falls and the fifth year being a choice by the resident, with a blend of both academic and community programs.*
Residents will have the opportunity to observe and participate in a variety of orthopedic treatments and procedures such as adult reconstruction, orthopedic trauma, spine, hand, foot and ankle, sports injury care, oncology and amputations. The program will allow residents to focus on research while improving the care and treatments available to patients.
The program is newly accredited and welcomed its first residents in June 2018. We will be participating in the National Residency Matching Program and accept three applicants. For more information on our application process, please contact Sara.king@sanfordhealth.org.
*The program is managed and funded by Sanford Health.
