Education Records
Protecting student privacy at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
FERPA Statement
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. While parents/guardians/others understandably have an interest in a student's academic progress, they cannot be granted access to a student's records without consent of the student.
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, prohibits the release of information without the student’s consent. Students may choose to complete and submit a FERPA Privacy Release request.
Submit a FERPA Privacy Release request on the eForms tile in CampusConnection.
UND shall obtain consent from students before disclosing any personally identifiable information from their education records. The consent must:
- Specify the records to be released
- State the purpose of the disclosure
- Identify the party or parties to who disclosure may be made
- Be signed and dated by the student and retained
- Electronic signatures are acceptable
To request a release of information, complete the Release of Information (ROI) form.
