Public invited to attend Frank Low Research Day

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences will hold the 36th Annual Frank N. Low Research Day on Thursday, April 7, from 8 a.m. 6 p.m. in the Reed Keller Lecture Hall at the School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Grand Forks.

Keynote speaker is Harald H. Sitte, Ph.D., professor, Medical University for Physiology and Pharmacology, Institute of Pharmacology. He will present his address, “Transporters as clinical targets of drugs: amphetamines, new psychoactive substances and the monoamine transporter cycle,” from 4 to 5 p.m.

The event is open to the public. All are welcome to attend.

Frank Low Research Day provides a forum where faculty and students can be exposed to the latest research interests and activities of their colleagues. Held for the first time in the spring of 1981, Research Day was dedicated in the name of Frank N. Low, Ph.D., upon his retirement as a gesture of recognition for his contributions to research at the School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

From 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., faculty as well as graduate, health sciences, and medical students will be available to discuss their research at the posters presentation in the Vennes Atrium.

Joshua Wynne, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., UND vice president for health affairs and dean of the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences, will deliver welcoming remarks for Dr. Sitte at 3:45 p.m. in the Reed Keller Lecture Hall.

Invited talks by faculty and graduate students are from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Reed Keller Lecture Hall. Poster awards will be announced at 5 p.m. in the Reed Keller Lecture Hall, followed by a reception with refreshments outside the lecture hall.
