Aid Application & Award Process
Application
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible after October 1. UND's Federal School Code is 003005.
We recommend you submit parental data on the FAFSA application to ensure you are considered for every type of aid available. If you submit parental data, as a medical student you will still be classified independent for federal financial aid purposes.
Verification
If you are selected for verification of your FAFSA information, please provide the necessary documentation to the UND Student Financial Aid Office.
Late Applicants
Late applicants, as well as those who incorrectly fill out their application materials, may experience a considerable delay in receiving notification of their eligibility and subsequent delivery of any remaining financial aid funds.
Award Process & Notification
Each applicant will be considered for all financial aid and will be granted the aid according to his or her needs and the availability of funds. Students who have correctly completed and submitted their application materials should receive an award notification via email in May that will indicate their eligibility for aid.

Federal Direct Loan Requirements
For new federal direct loan borrowers, you must sign a Master Promissory Note and complete Entrance Loan Counseling prior to your loan disbursement.
By signing a Master Promissory Note (MPN), you, the borrower, agree to repay the loans that are guaranteed using the note. The MPN will remain valid for 10 years, unless you file for bankruptcy. If you sign the MPN and then decide not to borrow for 12 months, you will be required to complete a new MPN.
Disbursement
UND delivers refunds of excess financial aid via Campus Connection. You must enroll in electronic refunds via Direct Deposit to your bank account or a reloadable debit card. Most financial aid will be directly credited toward amounts owed to the University for tuition, fees, etc.
