Family Medicine, Fargo

The UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Family Medicine Residency in Fargo, N.D., is a 36-month program that is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Our residency program is based out of Sanford Health in Fargo and accepts six residents per year. The Program Director is Dr. Lara Lunde. The clinical experiences that residents will receive in this program will give our graduates a broad experience in practicing family medicine. Residents will have a majority of their rotations at the new Sanford Medical Center, as well as many opportunities to rotate at several rural locations.

Residents are supported by Sanford Health’s team of skilled providers. The residency is designed to prepare our graduates to provide full-spectrum family medicine to rural and underserved populations. With an emphasis on quality patient care and excellence in education, the Family Medicine Residency in Fargo is on the progressive track to develop care for a family as a unit. Most of the resident rotations will be at the new Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., with many rotations at the new Sanford Medical Center. These initial residents will have the opportunity to significantly influence many aspects of the program structure and curriculum.

The UND Family Medicine Residency, Fargo is dedicated to training physicians of excellence, who will treat the whole person from birth until end of life, working in both urban and rural environments. They will be trained to empower people to live healthier lives through the use of team based care and the most current evidence-based medicine.
