Population Health

Welcome to the Department of Population Health at UND, home of our School's Public Health Program!

Researchers, physicians, and other providers and health officials focused on population health explore the the health outcomes groups, including the distribution of health outcomes within groups, as opposed to individuals.

Such groups can be defined in a variety of ways, including by geography, race/ethnicity, ability, lifestyle (e.g., smokers), or legal status (e.g., federal inmates), among other categories. The health outcomes of such groups are of relevance to policymakers in both the public and private sectors.

UND's Department of Population Health houses our School's Master of Public Health Program, which graduates professionals prepared to work in various public health settings across the country.

To work in population health is to emphasize not only the overall "health" of a given population, but also includes the distribution of health across and within groups.
