Mission & Goals for the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program.
Our fellowship prepares future leaders in surgical critical care through comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and mentorship. Fellows gain the knowledge and skills to manage complex critical illnesses while upholding the highest standards of patient care, professionalism, and compassion.
The program’s mission statement is to educate surgical intensivists trained in the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D. After the fellowship, the fellow will be able to provide excellent and timely surgical critical care, to resuscitate and provide excellent trauma critical care, to review data and disseminate research findings, to teach residents and students, and to be able to lead a critical care unit.
Training emphasizes resuscitation, advanced monitoring, organ system support, trauma and injury management, as well as the ethical and administrative aspects of critical care. Graduates will leave our program equipped with the expertise to excel as skilled clinicians, educators, and leaders in the field.
