Graduate Certificates
The Public Health Program offers a graduate certificate in three areas of emphasis: Public Health, Population Health Research & Analytics, and Indigenous Health.
The certificate is designed for people who wish to obtain formal training in an aspect of public health, but do not want to earn the M.P.H. degree. These include those currently working in the public health and health care fields, as well as others. All credits from a certificate program can be transferred towards the M.P.H. degree, if the student wishes. Graduate Certificates in General Public Health, Population Health Research & Analytics, and Indigenous Health do not qualify for federal financial aid.
Admission requirements for the graduate certificate are linked here. Applicants for the graduate certificate apply online through UND. Applicants can apply for fall, spring or summer enrollment.
The curriculum for the emphasis in General Public Health consists of five M.P.H. core courses. See the sample Plan of Study below. Other coursework may be substituted with advisor approval. All courses are offered on campus or in an asynchronous, online format.
Some students who complete the Graduate Certificate in General Public Health will be eligible to sit for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) examination. The CPH exam is the only national test for public health professionals. It is increasingly required for public health employment and advancement in public health organizations.
