New Incoming Residents

Ten medical school graduates started their residency training July 1, 2015.

  1. Anthony H. Loewen, M.D., PG I Preliminary: Born in Kansas City, Mo. Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. Medical school: University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, Sioux Falls, S.D.

  2. Ann E. Hulme, M.D., PG I Preliminary: Born in Cleveland, Ohio. Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion/Wellness from the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point, Wis. Medical school: University of Toledo College of Medicine, Toledo, Ohio. She was accepted into a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, which will begin July 1, 2016.

  3. Erin H. Clough, M.D., PG II Preliminary: Born in Thorton, Colo. Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Denver in Colorado. Medical school: University of Medicine & Health Sciences, St. Kitts. Erin did a preliminary year in general surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

  4. Adeseye Adekeye, M.D., Ph.D., PG I Categorical: Born in Lagos, Nigeria. Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill. Medical school and Ph.D.: SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, N.Y. Dissertation: “Retinitis Pigmentosa: Investigating the Role of the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) Pathway in Regulating Photoreceptor Death.”

  5. Cecilia L. Benz, M.D., PG I Categorical: Born in Guadalajara, Mexico. Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Medical school: Texas A&M Health Sciences Center, College of Medicine, Station, Texas.

  6. Matthew R. Heberer, M.D., PG I Rural Categorical: Born in Geneseo, Ill. Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health with honors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Ill. Medical school: University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria, Ill.

  7. Mallory J. Yelenich-Huss, M.D., PG I Categorical: Born in Virginia, Minn. Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn., and Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Neuroscience-Psychology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Medical school: University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, Minn. Mallory did a preliminary year in general surgery at the University of Minnesota Surgical Residency Program.

  8. Dustin L. Evans, M.D., PG II Categorical: Born in Fort Morgan, Colo. Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. Medical school: University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver, Colo. Dustin did two preliminary years in general surgery at the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colo.

  9. Raelene D. Zospah, M.D., PG I Rural Categorical: Born in Shiprock, N.M. Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Montana State University in Bozemen, Mont. Medical school: University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Albuquerque, N.M. Raelene did a preliminary year in general surgery with the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences last year and has now earned a rural categorical position.

  10. Trent G. Waage, M.D., PG III Categorical: Born in Aberdeen, S.D. Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D. Medical school: University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, Vermillion, S.D. Trent did two years as a preliminary resident in general surgery in the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Department of Surgery and has now earned a position as a third-year categorical resident.
