Third Year ROME
ALL third-year students will enroll in Community Medicine and Epidemiology during the spring semester. Bismarck: MED 8101, Fargo: MED 8201, Grand Forks: MED 8301, Minot: MED 8401.
Read this carefully:
- Your enrollment is still specific to your home campus, and the ROME course numbers follow that same system. For the home portion of your clerkships, you will always enroll in section 2. Your ROME classes have a unique class number, specific to the location at which you will be ROME-ing. Devils Lake will always be section 1, Dickinson 2, Hettinger 3, Jamestown 4, Ortonville 5. Listed class numbers are current for fall 2016 (if you are completing your ROME work in the fall, use that side of the chart and vice versa for home).
- You will take NEURO/PSYCH as a "traditional" student during your home series of clerkships. Please see the "Third Year Traditional" tab.
- You will complete all 8 credits of Family Medicine (FMED) at your ROME site; your site determines which section of the class you register for. For example, a Bismarck student doing ROME in Hettinger would register for FMED 8161-03. A Fargo student ROME-ing in Dickinson would register for FMED 8261-02.
Surgery as ROME:
- If you are ROME-ing at Devils Lake, all 8 credits of Surgery are done at your home campus. SURG 8X01, 8 credits (register for "traditional" SURG).
- If you are ROME-ing at Hettinger, Dickinson, or Ortonville, you will take 4 ROME Surgery credits and 4 Surgery credits at home (to match your schedule).
- If you are ROME-ing at Jamestown, all 8 credits of Surgery are taken at ROME in Jamestown. Register for SURG 8X61-04.
Fourth Year
All fourth-year students will register for a 16-credit course block in both fall and spring semesters. The Office of Student Affairs will adjust your enrollment based on your completed, graded electives as the academic year progresses.
