Aid Award Process

Award Process and Notification

Each applicant will be considered for all financial aid and will be granted the aid according to his or her needs and the availability of funds. Students who have correctly completed and submitted their application materials by February 1 should receive an award notification via email in March that will indicate their eligibility for aid.

Late applicants, as well as those who incorrectly fill out their application materials, may experience a considerable delay in receiving notification of their eligibility and subsequent delivery of any remaining financial aid funds.

Accept or Decline Your Financial Aid

Follow all instructions in your award notification to accept/reduce/decline financial aid awards. Recipients of financial aid must accept/reduce/decline the aid offer at least 21 days prior to the start of the semester. Financial aid awards not accepted by the start of the semester may be canceled.

Federal Direct Loan Requirements

For new federal direct loan borrowers, you must sign a Master Promissory Note and complete Entrance Loan Counseling prior to your loan disbursement.

By signing a Master Promissory Note (MPN), you, the borrower, agree to repay the loans that are guaranteed using the note. The MPN will remain valid for 10 years, unless you file for bankruptcy. If you sign the MPN and then decide not to borrow for 12 months, you will be required to complete a new MPN.

Disbursement

UND is partnering with BankMobile to distribute refunds more quickly to our students. Most financial aid will be directly credited toward amounts owed to the University for tuition, fees, etc. Any aid in excess of amounts owed will be disbursed to the student through their BankMobile Refund Preference.
