INMED: NEUROscience (Native Educator University Research Opportunity)
This eight-week professional development program for high school science teachers in tribal schools includes:
- Research experience in biomedical science lab
- STEM pedagogy training
- Two continuing education credits (cost $100)
- Stipend ($11,000)
INMED: NEUROscience places teachers in a Department of Biomedical Sciences research lab at the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences where they will gain first-hand experience conducting science research. Teachers will also work with science educators to translate their research experience into the classroom.
This comprehensive professional development program aims to build on and improve teachers’ understanding of the scientific process and support their science pedagogy in an effort to provide learning environments for American Indian students that foster scientific inquiry and promote the attainment of careers in health care.

- 2-3 letters of recommendation (Letter writers should be colleagues or administrators who are able to talk about your desire for professional learning and how they think you will do in a biomedical science research experience)
